Happy Burpday Burro!

Today is my birthday. It is also Clare’s (from the brilliant Pumpkin Soup) birthday too and we are the same age - as she said, this year her age passed her bust size for the first time ever… she never looks 41, does she ;-)

So. 37. How the bloody hell did I get to be thirty bloody seven? How come I still have no clue what the hell I’m doing? Why have I still no direction in life? Don’t get me wrong, I’m not feeling sorry for myself - far from it as I’m blessed with health, family, friends, a job and a house - but I just can’t get my head around the fact I’m nearer 50 than 20 and I have never - not once - known what the bloody hell I’m supposed to be doing. Sigh. Answers on a postcard (or the back of a sealed down envelope) please.

  3. Happy birffles!

Sorry is late. RSS lag, curse it.

If it’s any comfort, Mr. KW and I have no idea either. None. Whatsoever. And between us we are in our late fifties. :)

  4. A belated happy birthday mate!

If it’s any consolation, I think we both now what we’d like to be doing - anything other than work!

  5. Belated happy burpday! Like KW, RSS lag, sorry!

Nope, I haven’t a clue either and I’m not sure if I ever will. As long as you’re happy though, that’s the main thing above all.

Hmm, maybe that is what you’re supposed to do - be happy? And everyone else around you of course. I’d go into some hippyish drivel, but it’s probably best for all our sakes if i just shut up now.

  6. You whiner! I’m coming up on forty-mumblemumble in a couple of weeks!

    (happy Bday, BTW.)

  7. oh! oh! By the way, watch Heroes tonight on BBC2, 9pm. I think you might find it aces.

  8. Hi all - thanks soooo much for your well-wishes. I think you’re right Mildew - it’s all about being happy I reckon. In that case, I’m doing great!

Ohhhh! And Mildew is right people - watch Heros tonight!!!

  9. As a new member of the 38 club myself I can tell you that… everybody has those same issues, and it doesn’t get much better as you get older.

A Belated Happy Birthday to ya, ya ol bassturd !

  10. Hap…

    …py Birthday!

Oh, shut up. I coped with turning 40 this year. And although I still have no idea what I’m doing, at least I’ve learned to be consistent about who I do it to!

  11. Happy Birthday Kid!!!

I hope you had a brilliant day!

I know it’s damned late but better late than never!

  12. Happy Birthday B!

From a girl who never knows where she’s going, where she’s been or why she is where she is … a little birthday tune … mmmm

  13. Happy belated birthday McB! It’s only 3 days late, so I’m hoping you’re still enjoying your pressies from the day. Sending you some virtual gourmet chocolate, albeit a little late.

    Many happy wishes pal!

Oh, and to be naughty, I’ve tagged you for 7 random facts. Sorry, I know you’re kinda busy at the moment, so I’m hoping you can tear yourself off playing 2nd life for 5 minutes for this tag….. http://jacnal.blogspot.com/2007/07/jacs-7-random-facts-tagged.html

  14. Thirty freakin’ seven?!?! Sheeeesh. Here I thought you were a bearded sage, offering wisdom to the rest of us. Only to find out that you a mere PUP! A slip of a lad!! From my grand old vintage of 54, I can assure you that the question of “what tha &^%$#@ am I supposed to be doing?!?” rarely goes away. BUT, it is the quest for something new, better, more challenging,, more fulfilling to do that makes the journey worthwhile. That, plus a lot of laughs, a bunch of buddies, a few stiff drinks, and LOTS of inappropriate junk food!

    Cheers and happy birthday, Burro!!!!!

  15. Many happy belated birthday returns! Hope you had a good one.

All the best people are born in July. (i.e. it was mine a couple of weeks ago too. ;) )

And what exactly are ‘returns’ in this sense? Any idea?

  16. Hi all - thanks for all the wonderful thoughts, words & returns (no idea Nez, but I’ll keep ‘em in the fridge just in case). Sorry for no reply, but work this week was mental busy!!

Mel: Thanks for the song hun – you, the mistress and the boss were the only ones who serenaded me :-D

Sara: Cheers matey – hope your farm is flood free and all the animals are well.

KW: “Between you are” in your fifties? That makes you 25ish ;-)

El Gordo The Terrible: Oh god you are soooo right.

Mildew: Likewise – I think the secret is just to live in the now as much as possible/practical – being happy is so important

Bugster: I know, I know. The mistress is with you and says I’m moaning too much and should wait until I hit 40 before I have a breakdown :)

    Gaz: 38? You old fart!

H to the W: 40? See above – you may now have a breakdown. Enjoy.

LJ: Thanks hun! I did – ohh! There’s a plug coming soon, I promise – you may need to remind my poor wee brain though.

GiGi: Thanks for the tune (it’s good to hear Pinkie & Perky still in work) and I am heartened to hear I am far from alone on my confused path in life :)

Jac: Yum! There were nice and I didn’t have to share with the mistress either :-D I’ve read the tags and will duly take part in your meme if only to tag some more peeps I missed in the Last Great Meme War. P.S. Kitchen Witch *does* live in a mud hut! Trufax!

Cool: I am a stubbly wise old man, the beard proving to be just too itchy :) Having said that, your advice on the journey through life with mates, booze and junk food proves I have a lot to learn in the wisdom stakes!

Nez: You’re right, all the best folk are born in July. Why, without that one fact, the world would have been denied the rather lovely bust of Pumpikin Soup…

    HB - 37 and happy!

  17. Thanks!!

  18. Ah! A fellow July birthday person! Rock on dude! By the way, you are not 37. You are 26 with 11 years experience.

Happy Birthday Mr Burro and don’t worry about being confused. Everyone is confused. If they tell you otherwise, they’re selling something.

  19. Burro - I need help! And I’m hoping with the wisdom of your 37 years ;) you might be able to oblige. (Or one of your trusty fellow burroteers.)

You’ve mentioned once or twice about me switching on RSS posts thingy and I dearly want to, but for the life of me I cannot work out how!!! Mine is a wordpress log (on the wordpress server, not my own like yours) and I’ve been all through my dashboard and options and tried the FAQs, but I can’t find what I’m supposed to do. Any suggestions anyone!?!

Do I need to join an RSS reader myself first or something?!?!

    HELP!!!

  20. Hmmm… Not sure matey… but I know a woman who does! Mildew over at http://mildew.wordpress.com/ has a wordpress.com blog and a working RSS :)

  21. Cheers Chris :)

Hope the house is working out well - I’m following the blog, just had no time for comments lately :(

  22. Happy birthday mate.
There are worse things than not knowing what you’re doing…..like knowing what you should have done and not done it, or done it wrong, or having just remembered what you were mean to be doing, or doing something you hate, or not doing anything at all, or doing what you’re told all the time without thinking about it. I’m off for a lie down now.

  23. Oi! Senor Burro! Stop messing around with Second Life and post some more!

  24. *tap tap*

    *tumbleweed*

  25. Hello? Ohh, yes… Ahh, sorry. Most remiss of me.
